Personal Philosophy on Teaching & Learning and Supervision of Dr.RK
As a lecturer, I strongly value the diversity of learning styles and the unique perspectives of students. Each student has difference layers of knowledge and skills. I will try to help these students by frequently testing their understanding against what have been presented in class, and use that knowledge as a base on which to build a greater understanding of more complex theories and applications. I believe this motivates the students to reiterate what they have learned. On the other hand, more importantly, it gives us an idea of how much they have finally understood and indicates if additional clarifications are needed.
I encourage critical thinking and the improvement of oral and written skills in all of the assignment and quiz. In an effort to give students greater ownership of the knowledge they encounter, I use problem based learning strategies as well as lecture in my classroom and try to develop assignments that foster both analytical and critical thinking and opportunities for creative application. I believe that learning requires deep understanding that can only come when students are able to apply knowledge in meaningful ways. Therefore the study of computing, imminently need practical. The skills have to be practiced and applied by students on a daily basis.
